Awatotara Bush Coastal Walking Track

Donations to support the work of the Taiko Trust are welcomed.

The Awatotara Bush Coastal Track takes you through native bush bursting with bird life, such as Chatham Islands parea (pigeon), tui, red-crowned parakeet, warblers and fantails out to the rugged coastline.

Visit the taiko Camp, the Taiko Trust base and Gap Sanctuary that protects endemic Chatham plant and bird species. It is also the base for the translocation of Chatham Islands mollymawk (albatross) from The Pyramid Island. (This is a seasonal activity)

This attraction is on private land and access requires permission beforehand and payment of an entry fee. This is very important, especially on farms, for management and health and safety.
